What we offer

Three ways to enter the practice.

Mediation is a skill that asks for repetition, not a method that arrives in a single sitting. We offer three formats — open to anyone, shaped around a single team, or a half-day return for graduates wanting to revisit a particular thread.

Workshop · Two Days

Open-Enrolment Two-Day Workshop

Two days of mediation and conversational practice — active listening, framing of disputes, working with strong emotion in a room, and facilitator self-care. Small-group rounds with structured debriefs.

  • Pre-reading and participant workbook
  • Follow-up reflection call four weeks later
  • Group of twelve, capped

Bespoke · In-House

In-House Team Workshop

A bespoke version of the workshop for a single organisation, sized between six and sixteen participants. We scope the team's recurring conversational situations and write practice scenarios drawn from their own work.

  • Scoping conversations with team leads
  • Custom scenarios drawn from your work
  • Written facilitator pack for ongoing practice

Half-Day · Returning

Reflective Practice Session

A standalone half-day session for graduates of past workshops. Each session takes a single theme — working with silence, or handling structural power asymmetries — combining short input with practice rounds and shared reflection.

  • One theme, three hours
  • For workshop graduates only
  • Small group, eight maximum

Why Halcyon Hall

A studio rather than a stage.

We run small rooms because mediation skills are built through rehearsal and feedback — not lectures. The work is slow, sometimes uncomfortable, and worth doing carefully.

Small group practice

Twelve participants maximum on open workshops. Everyone has multiple turns in the chair across two days.

Structured debriefs

Each practice round is followed by a careful debrief. Feedback is specific, framed kindly, and kept in the room.

A workbook to take home

Participants leave with notes, frameworks, and reflection prompts to keep working with after the room empties.

Follow-up call

Four weeks later, a one-to-one reflection call with a facilitator. Most learning happens in the weeks after a workshop.

Held with care

Sessions on facilitator self-care are built into every workshop. The work is demanding; we treat it that way.

Pre-reading sent ahead

A short selection of essays and case notes arrives a week before, so we begin from shared ground.

Considering a workshop?

Tell us a little about the conversations you're navigating.

A short note is enough. We'll suggest the workshop best suited to where you are and answer any practical questions about dates, group size, or fit.

Questions we're often asked

Before you book.

Who are these workshops for?

Anyone who finds themselves holding difficult conversations as part of their work — managers, HR practitioners, lawyers, social workers, community leaders, school deans. No prior mediation training is needed; we ask only that participants come willing to practice and be observed.

How much practice is there in a workshop?

Most of the two days is practice. Each participant takes the mediator's chair multiple times across the workshop, with role-played scenarios and structured debriefs after each round. Short framing inputs sit between practice sets, never replace them.

What does the workshop cost include?

The HKD 4,800 fee for the open-enrolment workshop covers the two days in the studio, pre-reading sent ahead, a printed participant workbook, refreshments through both days, and a one-to-one follow-up reflection call four weeks after the workshop.

Is the room confidential?

Yes. What participants share in the room stays in the room. We work from role-played scenarios rather than asking anyone to bring real cases by name; if personal material does surface, we hold it carefully and don't discuss it elsewhere.

Can I book for my team rather than as an individual?

The In-House Team Workshop is built for that. It begins with two scoping conversations, then runs as a closed two-day workshop using practice scenarios drawn from your team's actual conversational landscape. Group size sits between six and sixteen.

What's the cancellation policy?

Cancellations more than fourteen days before the workshop receive a full refund minus a small administrative fee. Within fourteen days we offer a transfer to a later cohort. Details are in the booking confirmation.

Do you offer the workshop in Cantonese?

Open workshops are run in English. For in-house team workshops we can deliver in English, in Cantonese, or bilingually depending on the team — please mention this during scoping and we'll match a facilitator accordingly.
